Why is an album missing on my iPhone?

I loaded two CDs into Music on my MacBook Pro and then copied them over to my iPhone. Both show up as being on my phone when I look at the phone in Music on the Mac. But when I look at my library on the phone itself, only one of the two appears. What went wrong?

iPhone 11, iOS 15

I appreciate your suggestions, but I'm afraid they didn't help.

  1. I synced another CD during the same session. It appeared in Music on both the Mac and the iPhone; this one appeared as being on the iPhone when I looked in Music on the Mac, but not when I looked in Music on the iPhone.
  2. Yes.
  3. Where do you see that I have iOS 15? Settings > General > About on the phone says I have 15.1.
  4. I am using macOS 12.0.1.

I eventually solved the problem by using Music on the Mac to delete the album from the iPhone and then copying it again. This time it appears as expected.

Hi there emk.mac,

We use our own iPhone the same way, and would like to help get you back to enjoying your synced music.

Let's begin with ruling out some basics:

  1. When was the last time you synced music obtained from a CD prior to this occurring, and has the same issue occurred in the past?
  2. Have you already tried a restart of both your iPhone and Mac since this began to occur?
  3. We see you have iOS 15 installed in your iPhone 11, but the latest for your model is iOS 15.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  4. If you have a compatible Mac model, the latest version is macOS 12.0.1. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. Here's how to first Back up your Mac with Time Machine, and afterwards, here's How to update the software on your Mac.

We look forward to hearing back from you. Take care until then!
