I am unable to do anything in my MacBook Air. I am trying to delete file through storage, but it displays error OSStatus error-34

"The file can't be found." on booting... Everytime I start my MacBook Pro (intel chip), I get two error message. Both say "The file can't be found". This has been happening ever since I updated to big sur. I have to click on "OK" (twice) to make them go away. Neither does it tell you what file can't be found. I just updated to Ventura 13.1 and the problem remains. As does the control strip/touch bar issue. Is Apple going downhill...SMH.

Errors while updating from 11.7.2 Big Sur to Ventura 13.1 or Monterey 12.1 macOS Big Sur Version 11.7.2 MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.6 GHz 6-core Intel Core i7 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB I have been trying to complete the newest software update. I have not been updating regularly which I am assuming may be one of my problems. I tried to upgrade to macOS Ventura 13.1, which is what shows when I got to software update in system preferences. I get this error every time I attempt the upgrade. I have restarted, restarted in safe mode, as well as tried to reinstall the Mac OS from recovery mode. None of it works. Always the same result. I have used WiFi and ethernet. I've scoured this board to try and find a fix. When I am try it in recovery mode it gives me this status bar screen: But doesn't move from that. It stays "about 2 hours and 21 minutes remaining" for about 20 minutes and then it gives me this error: I tried to move from Big Sur to Monterey thinking that perhaps I needed to go from 11 to 12 before 13. This is the error I get when I try to upgrade to Monterey: “The operation couldn’t be completed. (PKDownloadError error 8.)" I'm not sure what is wrong and I would love any advice on how to fix this. Mac System Data is large This question pops up alot. Can't find anything to help. Left Top Apple Icon -> About This Mac -> Storage. Shows System Data at 325 GB. I've tried alot of things to reduce the storage on my HD. Gained some disk space back but the System Data has not budge at all. Where's what I've done: Removed some applications, including Xcode Move my iOS backups to an external drive Cleaned up my Download folder of old *.dmg, *.pkg, *.zip and other larger files. I always keep my ~/Libraries/Application Support, Logs, Caches, clean, Rebooted into Safe Mode. Took a look at Storage, and rebooted in normal node. Delete local versions of timemachine backup via 'tmutil listlocalsnapshotdates and deletelocalsnapshotdates. The free version of Clean MyMac X didn't do much except save me 5 GB. Have been trying to upgrade xCode for months now, no success. In the meantime the OS has been updated. I aways upgrade to the latest OS on the day it releases or maybe 1 week at the most. I think I sudden realize my 512 GB HD has alot of free space to little. Thought it was videos and music. But I moved those to my external drive. Any one got any concrete ideas and what can I try? If we're understanding you right your Mac is out of storage space and when you attempt to free up space you get an error that says "OSStatus error-34". You've come to the right place for help with this.

It looks like you've been reviewing Free up storage space on your Mac. That’s a great place to start for help freeing up space.

Do you get the error only when you try to delete specific files, or does that error appear no matter what you're trying to delete? Try turning your Mac off and back on first: Shut down or restart your Mac. This is a simple step that can solve a lot of different issues. If this is happening with an external hard drive connected disconnect the drive or unmount it using Finder. See if you still get the error after those two steps.
