new iphone 13 messaging app freezes

Hello, I just recently got the new iPhone 13. Transferred all my stuff over and the phone was working just fine. Since updating to IOS 15.1.1 my messages app now freezes pretty frequently. Which is frustrating. This brand new phone that costs over $1,000 can’t even send a simple text.

it works once I turn it off and back one.

force closing the app doesn’t make it work. Only if I turn my phone off. I even toggled the iMessage feature off and on.

is there a new update coming out soon to fix this?

Hello JJinator9,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with the Messages app not working as expected. It's also really good to know that restarting temporarily resolves the issue. As it turns out an update was released today for iOS 15.2. Back up your iPhone then update the software and apps to see if that resolves this issue:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

How to manually update apps on your Apple device

If that does't help, let us know more. Does this happen with a certain contact or all contacts? Does this happen when sending text only or when sending with an image or other attachment? The more details you can provide the better.

Take care.
