Since upgrading to Monterey optimized battery charging is not working on my MacBook Pro. Battery always charges to 100%.
And yes, I have it turned on. And the laptop is almost always on the charger. It's had plenty of time to figure out my charging schedule and battery usage for the optimization. I've done all the usual useless things like resetting PRAM, SMC, etc.

When you upgrade to a new macOS—it will take 22+ days for the computer to learn your charging habits all over again. This is not an issue.
You do not have to worry or micro-manage the battery...
If you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on battery only.

That makes sense but that's definitely not what I experienced when I upgraded to Monterey. It worked as advertised from day one. And with Big Sur it never did work well.

Nowhere do you say what exact Mac this is.
so I will add BHM was introduced with Catalina macOS10.15.5 and must have T2 chip which includes 2016 models and later...
I am having the opposite experience. With Big Sur it would seldom stay at 80% and with Monterey it is working extremely well from the day I upgraded (the day it was released).

I would like to take your advice and not worry about this, but I can't help feeling annoyance! Apple's algorithm just doesn't seem very smart. I have had this machine two months, very rarely using it unplugged, not once after seven o'clock in the evening. Yet here it is, fully charged as it has been all evening and doubtless will be through tomorrow morning.

Now stuck at 100% on what appears to be a permanent basis. I haven't used it unplugged since January, maybe jogged the lead 6 Feb.
