iPhone says "This person already has Apple Cash enabled", but it is not

Trying to add my teenager to Apple Cash Family. iPhone says "This person already has Apple Cash enabled", but it is not. How to resolve this?

Welcome to Apple Support Community!


It does seem that you are trying to invite a family member under 18 to your Apple Cash Family.


If you are receiving this error message, this could mean that the individual has a current Apple Cash account that needs to be closed.


To close the account, you will need to contact Apple Support and speak to someone in the Apple Cash Department.


They will have to get you over to Apple Cash Specialist to get that account closed for you.


After they close that account, you will have to turn off Apple Cash in settings on the device by these steps below


Settings

Wallet and Apple Pay

toggle Off Apple Cash

Toggle On Apple Cash

Tap on Apple Cash card and complete setup.
