my update to macOS monteray doesn't look like the picture shown on here

I went to update my 2015 late MBPr and the box doesn't look like the picture they show on apples website rather it's a tiny BOX just wondering if any one else has this issue now i cannot get any further it keeps shutting down restarting or just shutting down. I have tried several times to do the update and keep saying it cannot update. My SSD is 1 TB and only 250GB is used and the rest is FREE so there is plenty of room.

Then yesterday i tried to update it again and now it says in a small tiny window that a FIRMWARE CANNOT UPDATE and it says it's needed. So i am at a loss this morning. Going to try and call apple when they open and see if they can help me.

any help will be appreciated i am, going to do a iphone video and upload it to show everyone maybe someone can help me out. Thanks in Advance.

Daniel

PS: macOS Update Assistant

Yellow Exclamation point in the center of a yellow triangle with a Box on the right corner bottom of the triangle

A required firmware update could not be installed.

Compatible internal storage is

required in order to update.

Then I can click the OK BLUE BAR but it keeps restarting doing the same thing over and over and now i cannot access my computer it always comes to that message and i cannot go any further. I believe i bought a 1TB SSD from MAC SALES .com so i don't think that is the problem or is it? I have always used MACSALES SSD'S and never encountered this.

Found some additional items worth consideration; plus

much more toward end of this last-months story that

may or not have affected Monterey (ie: Catalina/BigSur.)

There have been detailed reports and workarounds where Monterey upgrades

to firmware and Macs once past Catalina/Big Sur are involved. Very involved..

The tip of that iceberg starts like this:

• macOS Monterey Install Requirements for OWC Aura Pro SSDs | macsales.com/blog

https://eshop.macsales.com/blog/78613-macos-monterey-install-requirements-for-owc-aura-pro-ssds/

"Unlike macOS 11 ("Big Sur") which required no firmware update, Monterey will not successfully install on

a machine with an OWC SSD installed if ..firmware is older than.. Fall-2019 macOS 10.15.x Catalina iteration.

This impact will be noticed when attempting to install or update an OWC Aura N2 or OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD."

"Please contact our OWC Technical Support Team if you encounter issues installing

or upgrading to macOS 12.x with an OWC Aura N2 or OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD."

Another tidbit about this firmware update issue, found online, in an ASC reply:

"Any users who might be encountering this issue should update their system firmware

to the latest (4xx.0.0.0.0) before attempting to install macOS 12.x on their OWC Aura N2

or OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD. We recommend confirming the current firmware version under

System Report. The host firmware version can be confirmed under System Report

–> Hardware Overview –> System Firmware Version."

There are workarounds. Those details are available online; from knowledgeable sources.

..Haven't time here; enough said already..

Failed to Install Monterey —

Yes this is a known issue— non OEM Apple NVMe / PCIe SSD

The work around is to reinstall the OEM Apple Drive —upgrade that drive which will flash the board, then reinstall your third party drive and now you can run the installer on your machine.

The EFI /Firmware part of the Monterey pkg is verifying for OEM Apple Drives and fails to upgrade. The EFI boot ROM is required to Flash the board and is required to successfully install Monterey.
