Siri looking for Beats 1 on Spotify all the time

So, I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get Siri to play music via Spotify.

Whenever I say, "Hey Siri, play music on Spotify" the reaction nine times out of ten is "Sorry, I didn't find Beats 1 on Spotify". When I repeat the question sometimes it will work, and Spotify will start playing a random saved playlist (which is fine).

Before the last iOS update it used to usually work if I got specific like: "Hey Siri, play my liked songs on Spotify", but now I just get the Beats 1 reply pretty much every time.

I found out that Beats 1 is an Apple radio station available via Apple Music but that's something I've never listened to, and I don't have Apple Music. I don't even have the Music app installed.

Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks,

Kris

Hello KrisCoady,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with playing music on Spotify using "Hey Siri". To start, follow the steps listed here if "Hey Siri" isn't working as it should be: If "Hey Siri" isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

Also, check Siri's settings to see if they are correct: Change Siri settings on iPhone

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response but "Hey, Siri" isn't the issue. Siri itself is working fine and reacts perfectly when activated via voice. The problem is that when I ask it to play music on Spotify it always tries to play 'Beats 1' which of course doesn't exist on Spotify and is not what I asked for.

When I specifically ask for a playlist or artists it usually does work. For instance, "Hey, Siri, play music by Queen" will work fine. But leaving the artist part away will fail where it should just start Spotify and play something random from my library.
