This also happens to me when i mute myself while I'm on a facetime call - It boosts the volume all the way up and i'm not able to lower it at all.

The only solution for this other than hanging up when it inevitably happens on every call, is to open up TikTok and play a video. I don't know why it works but it brings the volume down to its original level.

Hello sriracha001,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that your FaceTime volume increases and you are not able to turn it down.

Does this happen with more than one contact? Does this happen when you are using headphones or your iPhone speaker? This can help isolate where exactly the issue lies.

Are you using the side buttons, control center or how are you adjusting volume? Test from Control Center as well as side buttons if you haven't. If using the side buttons, check the 'Change with buttons' setting as mentioned in Adjust the volume on iPhone, then see if this continues.

Take care.

I have tried The side buttons and the control centre to change volume on FaceTime but it is persisting on full volume. The only way that I know of is to open TikTok and volume will return to original level. I am displeased on a daily basis because the volume will periodically turn all the way up without reason or any practical means of turning it down.

this has been happening since I updated to latest update.

the only way I can fix it is to take a screenshot that being said I didn’t know about opening TikTok would bring it back down to.

iv found that it happen when I’m muting myself or unmuting myself and it’s constant.

im in a long distance relationship so we are on FaceTime constantly and this is getting worse and worse dad by day.

When i am on facetime with ANYONE this happens to me. it’s triggered randomly as well as when i turn on the flash light. i have to go to settings -> sound & haptics turn my volume up then back down and it helps for a good 1 minute. otherwise i have to hang up and call again until it happens again and repeat. this has been happening for the last six months and i’ve had this phone for two years 😡😡 PLEASE FIX

Hi,

so I am having the same issue as you. Whenever I am on a facetime call with anyone, the volume would be normal, until I go on Tik tok. When I would be on Tik tok, I could barely hear anything hit when I exit the app, the facetime volume wokld be very loud and I wouldn’t be able to turn it down unless I end the call. This only happens when I go on Tik tok and it’s very annoying. This started happening when I updated my iPhone to iOS 15.

hi!! i know i'm not a specialist or anything but in a long distance relationship almost always on facetime, this is because of the way tik tok balances the sound and puts it at a level so that the sounds on tik tok can still be heard while on facetime. tik tok has it's own volume settings, (which i assume was collaborated on) so i assume when the app is/was opened, those volume settings override the facetimes settings. i don't know why as i don't work for apple. they can figure it out. hope this helps! (:

I also have this issue. It happens all the time when I FaceTime my girlfriend. I’ve tried using the control center, changing the volume with the buttons and I have the correct setting turned on but nothing works. I have to go to my sound settings and lower the bar for the ringers and alerts and that lowers the volume for like 2 minutes then it goes to the max volume again. It happens when we’re on FaceTime and it’s going through my phone speakers. It’s very frustrating as this happens every night.
