facetime volume gets way too loud randomly

hi,

i facetime my friends at night a lot and sometimes the volume would get super loud and it won’t let me turn it down. it’s like at maximum volume and the only way to fix it is to hang up…

i never had this problem before updating to ios 15.1. i updated my phone to ios 15.2 the other day and it’s still happening. how can i fix this? it happens everyday

This also happens to me when i mute myself while I'm on a facetime call - It boosts the volume all the way up and i'm not able to lower it at all.

The only solution for this other than hanging up when it inevitably happens on every call, is to open up TikTok and play a video. I don't know why it works but it brings the volume down to its original level.

i have this same issue, i find ppl r recognizing you can open tiktok, bc when you open it the volume connects with the call volume, so you are able to then control the volume of the call as well again. another way i was able to fix it without hanging up or any of that was by connecting bluetooth headphones(mine are specifically raycons idk if the brand matters) or just by plugging my normal lighting connector heaphones in and unplugging them and i find i am able to regulate my volume again.

The exact same thing started happening to me. I actually figured it out how it happens - if you open tiktok whilst on FaceTime with someone then go back to the FaceTime, you won’t be able to adjust the volume in the FT at all, it won’t make a difference pressing the volume buttons up & down the sound level stays the same and it’s always so LOUD. I’ve also tried swiping down and adjusting that volume, still nothing. I even tried adjusting the sound in settings which will work for about 3 minutes then it goes back to being loud. It’s clearly a glitch with our device + tiktok I guess. Don’t know why it happens or how to fix it so Apple can you get on this and fix it ASAP thanks 🙏

I have tried The side buttons and the control centre to change volume on FaceTime but it is persisting on full volume. The only way that I know of is to open TikTok and volume will return to original level. I am displeased on a daily basis because the volume will periodically turn all the way up without reason or any practical means of turning it down.

When i am on facetime with ANYONE this happens to me. it’s triggered randomly as well as when i turn on the flash light. i have to go to settings -> sound & haptics turn my volume up then back down and it helps for a good 1 minute. otherwise i have to hang up and call again until it happens again and repeat. this has been happening for the last six months and i’ve had this phone for two years 😡😡 PLEASE FIX

Hi,

so I am having the same issue as you. Whenever I am on a facetime call with anyone, the volume would be normal, until I go on Tik tok. When I would be on Tik tok, I could barely hear anything hit when I exit the app, the facetime volume wokld be very loud and I wouldn’t be able to turn it down unless I end the call. This only happens when I go on Tik tok and it’s very annoying. This started happening when I updated my iPhone to iOS 15.

I also have had this problem as well. For me it happens when I’m on speaker.

A good bandaid to this issue is (if you have AirPods) put in one ear and turn down the volume to the desired level and take the airpod out.

Reading the forum I’ve also heard opening TikTok helps but I have personally never tried it.

I hope apple fixes this bug or comes out with a better way to control the volume of calls but until that happens, we really are stuck with those options.

as always good luck and best regards,
