I have in the last week have an unknown group appear on the login screen. It is named 'other'. Within Users and Groups it does not appear. To open at login a name and password are required. I did not set this up. How do I delete it? Did command line list of users and groups did not see it referenced.
Any help appreciated.
Last program installed was the Carbon Copy Cloner version 6. Big Sur installed 11.6.1

Yes, it is my root user acct. Thought it was turned off months ago but somehow came back with a group icon at the startup window. Very strange indeed.

Thanks for your help didn't think of logging in with my root account I use every so often.
It's not a group.
It just allows hidden users to log in using username and password.
It will show up when you enable the root user.
If something created a hidden user, it will be enabled.
Sometimes it's just a glitch.
Have you recently installed any third-party software other than CCC.
You can try running this in Terminal, then restart:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow SHOWOTHERUSERS_MANAGED -bool FALSE
I don't know if it will work in Big Sur.
I use every so often.
Why? I have never found a need to do so.
