Watch just updated to watch OS 8.3 and battery will only last a couple of hours before it is drained?
Why is my watch battery draining so fast after updating to OS 8.3? It now goes completely dead after a couple hours.

If the battery drains too fast after an update, see all the replies to:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)
Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
Problem continues … Today i have the same problem .. It only charges to 40 % then i need to remove the charger and connect .. then arrives to 50% and now it stops .. remove and charging .. if the charger it is connected for 2 hours no charging …
I am using not he original apple charger cable it’s an oem version .. maybe could be the problem?
It is possible to downgrade the apple watch 6?
Thanks..
Exactly the same issue here since 8.3, on a Series 5. I went as far as reseting the watch and repairing it and enable only Vanilla app. The issue is still here. The battery drain way too fast compared to watchOS 8.3
Apple, please fix.
Same issue here. Tried all suggested options - hard reset; unpair and re-pair; and, draining battery down to zero followed by full recharge. Had high hopes yesterday as battery level was high for the first two hours; then, the drain. Today, less than two hours and down to 41%. No changes to settings from before. Typically was at 50% after a full day. All of this changed upon update to 8.3. Please fix this, Apple. The user experience and brand value (which you are known for) are falling as quickly as an Apple Watch battery drains.
I’ve exact same issue. The moment I upgraded to watchOS 8.3, battery drains within 2-3 hours. This is despite battery health being 83% and the watch passing all diagnostic tests. Also, Watch works fine and battery lasts as it should if I turn off my iPhone. Apple is unable to resolve or even diagnose the problem.
I continue with the same charging problem with apple watch 6. Is like if apple has remove support for oem chargers ..
I have tried with a new belkin official charger ( 3x1 iphone, watch and airpod one and it works perfect.
When i am using an oem charger it charger 10 minutes and suddenly it stops charging …
I have no problem with battery draining ..
Best regards…
Same problem..
Last time in July I did a hard reset a few times and helped. This time not so much.. been 2 weeks always charging
I think it is Apple's way to get me to update.. Every 6 months lets stuff up the watch.
I used to get almost 2 days from a charge when I first got the S4
Been down to 20-30% before bed for the last year.
Honestly it is crap battery life from the watch normally.
I charged last night lost 14% first hour before bed.. then down to 46% when I woke up with sleep on.
It takes so long to charger as it is..
Doing it 2-3 times a day is a pain.
Of course like any Apple bug.. There is no Bug here to see.
Next update fixes things quietly.
I have everything Apple.. Although this we do not acknowledge people have problems until we quietly fix is annoying
I force booted a few times a day
Although I still charging 3 times a day instead of once.
Today lost 45% sleeping 7 hours
we have 2 other series 4 and a series 3 in the household they are ok.
second time mine gone..
Apple and silence annoys you
Happy swapping phones worked
have a XR that I had for 3 months, in July it happened on my older iphone 8 plus.
I do think it is a combo of something on phone and also watch together.
As mentioned we have two 40mm S4 and a 38mm S3 in the household all good.
and nice to vent here although we know Apple will eventually fix it
hidden in bug fixes..
never to be mentioned again.. Until next time.
For me twice now July and now.
Android mate said my fault Apple must of noticed I am on a older watch and trying to force a update
well you're lucky.
Nothing working out for me unfortunately.
And like you said, every update make it worse.
I haven't enabled the new AssistiveTouch or antyhing new so that can't be it.
It's really troubling honestly. I just want it back to 8.2 :(
Same here, I use my watch regularly for working out and work (seeing emails while busy) and since yesterday when it automatically updated it has died multiple times throughout the day. The update has been the only change. My wife has a newer series and so far doesn’t have the issue. I hope it’s not Apple trying to force-phase-out the older models.
Mine is a new watch. Only had it a month. Worked fine until this update. 50% at night and now less than 15 by morning . Used to charge fully in am and would last till the next morning at a push. Now no chance . My old watch had battery issues so the new one was liberating but that’s ruined now
mine was better yesterday.. it lasted the day 1am 100% to 11pm and 18% left
only getting 15.2 updated now
I do think it is a indexing that gets stuck or something.
Second time now in 6 months which I spend 2 weeks on then it gets better.
mine is back to normal now.. 96% 11:56pm slept and now 85%.. where before it was down to 45% or lower just sleeping.
i think it is something to do with syncing or indexing back to iphone.
No idea what.
really a pain.
Honestly battery life sucks on watch to start with.. not got over a day for a long long time
Non apple watches friends have 3-7 days..
My series 3 watch has consistently got 1.5 days of charge, although I never wear it for sleeping. Various updates have caused my battery to die by early evening, but I was able to use the highly inconvenient but effective technique of erasing the watch and resetting it up from scratch to fix the overuse of battery issue. With version 8.3 (19S55), I have tried this twice and the battery is still draining like crazy.
Apple - please fix this: add premium support to your premium products.
