I have do not disturb turned on but Mail still makes sounds when new mail arrives. My settings are right as far as I can see.

In fact, there is a general bug with app-triggered Do Not Disturb. For instance, I set Focus to go to DND mode whenever I’m on Zoom. Exactly five minutes after DND is enabled, it spontaneously disables, even if I don’t switch to another app. After some testing, I find that *any* app trigger holds for only five minutes. (I have confirmed that there is no focus-stealing app running in the background.) This is on a M1 Mac mini running OS 12.1.
Fortunately, there is an easy workaround. Create your own Focus setting that blocks notifications (thus acting like the stock DND mode) when an app is triggered. User-created Focus settings do not appear to suffer from the five-minute restriction.
This issue is a nightmare. Had to take a serious meeting today and email notifications kept pinging in. DND worked for 5 minutes, then stopped working. Focus settings don't work. This is ridiculous! Apple please sort this out asap
I can't turn off email sound notifications ever! Do not disturb doesn't work but neither does changing the mail preferences or the notifications in system preferences. The only way I can turn them off is by muting my computer. This has disturbed me multiple times on various zoom calls and I keep having to apologize on work calls. Hope this gets solved soon!
I'm on Monterey 12.2.1.
I've tried reinstalling the OS but that didn't work either.
Same thing is happening to me! I refuse to turn off the mail notifications because I am constantly getting emails from students, committees, or my advisor and I need to know when they come in, but if I'm in a zoom meeting or trying to work and have Do Not Disturb (DND) on, I'm still getting email notifications. What's worse: If I'm screen-sharing on zoom and get an email, the notification also pops up in the corner, and lets everyone know that my package has been shipped, that my credit card/bank statement is ready for viewing, or whatever else those people have no business knowing...
I have found that quitting the mail app while I'm on DND helps, then reopening it when I turn DND off, but that's a bandaid as far as I'm concerned.
For the record, I'm on Monterey v12.1, if that helps to figure it out faster.
You can turn off the new mail sound. Go here in Mail prefs.
I restarted my Mac and now Do Not Disturb is working.
Bruce,
We're so glad to know that. Thanks for letting us know of your success.
Cheers!
Hello,
This is happening to me, too. Please help me make it stop!
I went to Mail/Preferences and turned off sounds for new mail. Sure that's not how Focus should work, but it solves my problem until Apple fixes this bug.
I just followed suit.... how annoying! 😕
I am having this same problem and am about to toss my mac mini out of the nearest window then go back to PC.
Just turn off Mail sounds until Apple gets this fixed.
I am experiencing the same thing. On my other devices I'm not receiving notifications. Only on the Mac mini M1 with Monterey. This has got to stop.
Yep, no solution other than to turn off new Mail sound.
As for the BT issue, try repairing your devices. That fixed that problem for me.
Did you try a full reset on the bluetooth devices? https://9to5mac.com/2021/12/01/how-to-fix-mac-bluetooth-issues/
