Search function of Calendar.app does not work after Save Boot

When I restart my iMac-24 (M1) with Safe Boot (no "external" extensions loaded), the Search function of Calendar.app (searching for text strings in calendar event entries) does not work. The side bar on the right appears, but nothing is found/listed no matter what I search for. When the Mac is bootet normally, Search works as expected.

Is this the normal way that Calendar should work?

Or is macOS 12.1 somehow broken on my iMac and needs a re-install?

Hi Barney-15E,

thanks for your reply!

I was booting into Safe Mode because of trouble with Photos.app and wanted to find a date related to some pictures/photos. That's why I found the (for me) unexpected behaviour of Calendar.app.

  • Search in Photos works in Safe Mode, one can e.g. search for people names
  • Search in Contacts works in Safe Mode as well
  • Search in file names (the search function of the Finder) is not functional, at least on my iMac24 (M1) when booted into Safe Mode.

I was surprised to find that there is this inconsistency among apps that are part of the System. If this is normal and happens on all iMacs, OK - it is as it is.

But I assumed that the functions of the system work, and I would like to exclude that my installation of macOS 12.1 is somehow broken.
