Xbox Series X Controller not working with app games - Monterey 12.1 M1 macbook air

The controller works with games on my ipad pro from the app store, works with games on my iphone 13 from the app store, works with games on my windows pc but DOES NOT work with games from the app store on my MacBook Air M1. All connected via blue via bluetooth. I am completely lost...

Note it did work with the Oddmar+ before updating to release 12.1 from 12.1 beta

Xbox one controller worked with Macbook Pro M1 and oregon trail is the game, that was the response. Not sure what to do now............................
