AirPods Pro keep randomly connecting to my iPhone while they are still in its case

I just bought mine in March 2022 and already happening to me. I listen to audiobooks so I have to back up to catch up. Notification just popped up now and I’m not even listening to anything! I’ll try suggestions and see what happens.

It's nice to know I'm not alone with this bug of the AirPods pro randomly connecting while in their case - it's been a journey.

• Cleaned the airpods pro - continued to happen
• Got the airpods pro headphones only replaced - continued to happen
• Got the airpods pro case only replaced - continued to happen
• Got a brand new - off the shelf - pair of airpods pro + case - continued to happen
• Restored my iphone - still happening

Not to mention resetting the AirPods Pro themselves multiple times. Using iPhone 12 mini with latest ios + firmware, automatic ear detection off. Never experienced this issue until a few months ago.

Adding a +1 to this in hopes it helps get the attention of the powers that be.

Same problem happens to me too. They are sitting in a drawer and suddenly they connect to my iphone. It also drains their battery. I have the ear detection on and it still happens. Although i am using the whole apple ecosystem i will never buy these again until their technology significantly improves

EXACTLY! I wasted 2 hours talking to 2 different "tech support" only to hear that this is "expected behaviour"!

I tried several times to disconnect, remove, change settings to not automatically connect, but nothing works permanently.

She told me my only 2 options were :

1 - To NOT to use the same apple ID (Umm.. no! it's my Mac and I want it connected to my iCloud!)

2 - Turn OFF Bluetooth on the MAC ! (I use a Bluetooth mouse! So no!)

I asked her if this could be escalated to the programmers/ designers so that they can change this annoying feature. She said there was no option to do that either!

I am so surprised that Apple doesn't care about this obvious glitch!

i cant reproduce it but it prolly happens 5-10x a day sitting here at my desk

Exactly the same problem for me, in fact it happened twice, oops three time while writing this.

I have been doing "forget this device" then reconnecting when i go to use them. its a pain but the connecting randomly is bull

I have the same issue; seems like apple needs to change the firmware to eliminate momentary contact open join to bluetooth!

I am having the same issue. During Zoom calls for work I suddenly lose the Volume. I am not using my AirPods Pro at the time. For weeks this has been driving me crazy. I may raise this with support

I am experiencing too. It happens multiple times a day. It just happened and my AirPods are downstairs on my key-hook and I’m upstairs in my room lol

This just started happening to me as well. Super frustrating!!
