Battery drain on watch series 7

I just got the apple watch series 7 a couple of weeks ago and have been experiencing short battery life. Even with most functions/ background app refresh etc turned off, the watch can only last 10 hours after a full charge. It can barely get through a work day. Battery % drops close to 10% per hour.

Have tried resetting, unpairing etc, hasn't worked to resolve this issue.

This happened on watchOS 8.1.1 and 8.3.

Does any one else have this problem?

I agree. It drove me nuts too!

I ended up making an appointment with the Genius Bar because all other methods had failed me.

Was told that the watch battery was likely discharging abnormally.

Exchanged it for a new one - battery life seems ok on this one. But I will try it out for a few days first before making any conclusions.

So I get my new watch replacement while mine is out on repair. Guess what? It doesn't hook up with Verizon and now I have to wait for a SIM card to be sent or go to a store? REALLY? Applecare watches are not carrier ready. Anyone experience this?

As noted, Watches don't use SIM cards. However, Verizon did used to have a problem activating any watch that had ever been activated on any other network, which a replacement watch could have been. My information is a bit out of date but, it's worth calling customer service and asking about.

My Apple Watch 7 battery life is awful!!! I’ve got it set to no background refresh with literally NO extra apps installed and my battery drains in a matter of hours!

When you talk to tech support they act like I’m the only one with this issue when thousands on the Apple forum talk about the exact same problem!!!!!

I had the issue with my Apple Watch 6 so I went to the 7 to fix it - huge waste of money!!

I think AppleCare was $79.

i did not want to be without a watch for 7-10 days.

last night I did a 30 minute workout on AppleCare plus and the battery drained quite a bit. But I sat at my kitchen counter all day working on a laptop and it did not say I met my exercise goal within an hour like my old one did. So that makes it a little better.

I have no apps on my watch and app refresh off. No notifications. Haptics off. All the fun stuff shut off like heart rate, fall detection, etc. I have a boring watch that is face shut off and in a grey color scheme- dimly lit. No secondhand going, no animated watch faces. At this point I have a bracelet. My replacement is running better but I did a 30 minute bike ride using activity and 25% dropped off. If I did a longer bike ride like 2 hours would that kill the battery completely?

My old watch would say I reached my exercise goal when I was sitting at a desk for 2 hours so this new watch is not doing that at least and recording proper movement and activity.

Me too, I had a fit bit versa sense before I “upgraded” to an Apple Watch series 7. The Apple Watch in my opinion is definitely better however the batter lasts a day max which is ridiculous when my other watch could last a little over a week! I’m really dissatisfied with the battery usage and I’ve turned pretty much everything off that uses the battery most and it’s still not lasting long at all…

Thanks for the possible solution. I did everything but I can’t reinstall the Watch app from the App Store. It doesn’t show when I do a search for it. The only thing that shows is watch utilities app. I went ahead and paired the Watch and it actually restores the Watch app and all of the back ups. I’m at a loss with this thing. I have owned a 3,5, and 6 and never had any issues with them.

I bought a new Apple Watch series 7 a few days ago. My question is why do I need to be charging the watch everyday? Also, I prefer not to have email messages coming through. I am new to all this Apple Watch and it’s capabilities. My main reason for purchasing was to be able to ask for help when I am walking and for other health options the watch has. Any support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
