My gmail account not showing in Mail

All of a sudden, one of my gmail accounts has disappeared from the list in Mail on iMac. It was there this morning and I've checked in settings but can't see how to re-establish it. It's still available on my iPad and iPhone.

One of my gmail accounts won't show in my mail app I can't get one of my Google email accounts to show in my iOS mail app on my MacBook Air. I have had 4 Gmail accounts showing before and I have deleted 2 of them (no longer in use, they were in association with previous jobs). So now I should have 3. But the latest one I added (and yes, I went through all the signing in through the little window that pops up through Google on the web, and it shows up in the Mac settings as an email that is one of the ones that should be in my email app), doesn't show up in my Mail app. I have to open the gmail app on the web which is annoying. If it shows up in my mail settings as being added, why is it not showing in my mail app? I was able to get it to add on my iPhone without an issue.

Can't add Gmail on Mac, click "DONE" and nothing happens. How do I fix? Brand new Macbook Air and I have identical problem as reported on this thread in 2016 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7673940 Unfortunately, there is no solution posted on that thread.

I don't know what happened, but if it were me, I would begin by opening Mail and setting up a new gmail account.
