Watch calendar syncing of new events is fatally slow

When I add a new calendar event to Calendar on mac, I expect that the Watch will also have the event within a minute or two of the event being added. However, I have found that it can take more than 24 hours for an event to show up on Watch, or it does not show up at all.

How do I fix that?

I tried updating the watch. I tried resetting the sync data. Still nothing has worked.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have the same issue but with google calendar. The watch is also very slow to update if I move events to a different time.

Hello Alias7,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that when you add a Calendar event on your Mac, it can sometimes take as long as 24 hrs for it to reflect on your Apple Watch, if it shows up at all. Updating and resetting sync data didn't work. We would recommend taking a look at the following support article:

If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync - Apple Support

Specifically this section:

"Force sync Calendar data on Apple Watch

To force sync Calendar data on your Apple Watch:

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab.
  2. Tap General, then tap Reset.
  3. Tap Reset Sync Data.

If a family member set up your Apple Watch for you, you can't force sync Calendar data."

If you continue to have issues, you may need to contact Apple Support using the link at the bottom of the article.

Best regards.

Is the event appearing in the calendar on the paired iPhone quickly? I wonder if it is updating in iCloud but not on the Watch. I'm guessing here that you are using iCloud calendar. If you were to open Calendar on the iPhone and the Mac, add a new event on the Mac, watch the calendar on the iPhone and see if it updates. Then check the Watch.

You can try unpairing the Watch from the phone, then restart both devices and re-pair the Watch to the phone and see if that clears it.
