The issue is not a Pro vs not Pro version of the hardware. The issue is MacOS, iPadOS, iOS issue. Until Apple adds support for the a7iv RAW to the operating system(s) we will not be able to view or edit RAW photos from the photos app. Best we can hope for at this point is 12.3 but I'm willing to lay odds that we will be lucky to see it in MacOS 13. I have relegated to editing in Capture One Express at this point. It's free and I hate Adobe.

In most, this MacOs build for PRO users 80% of them im really sure. If i wanted to just surf or texting in editors, we have light iOS and iPads.

But buying MacBook Pro, im prepared for PRO experience. To Support all cameras and other media gadgets.

If you're looking for a "pro" experience then why are you trying to view the raws from a $2,500 camera in Preview or Photos? These are giveaway apps. You should be using a pro level app like Adobe Lightrrom Classic or CaptureOne.

At least be consistent.

There is no Sony Alpha ILCE-7 IV camera in the Big Sur camera RAW support. There is an Alpha ILCE-7R IV entry, and that camera is now discontinued by Sony after the Alpha ILCE-7R IVa introduction in June 2021. That latter camera is not supported in Big Sur or Monterey.

If you only have Big Sur 11.2 installed, it is time to update it to the current 11.6.4, as that may introduce additional supported camera RAW support that was not present when macOS 11.2 was released.

Generate custom Finder icon for RAW images (even if image format is not supported by macOS) could be helpful (used prior to Canon's CR3 format being fully natively supported by macOS). The same approach (with minor changes) should work with any camera that is supported by Adobe Camera Raw.

P.S. The Canon EOS RP version of CR3 was natively supported but the Canon EOS R5 version of CR3 wasn't initially supported by macOS

Same was with NOISE issue on MacBookPro 16, Apple doent made the update to fix for YEARS of the Heating and FAN noise. But Later, after 2 years they release the patch inside of new MAC OS to fix that problem, and it can be done in Operation System not in hardware... But wait? should we wait so long? 2 years to fix simple problem ?

I think somebody in Apple Developers team JUST LAZY...
