Centre stage and Portrait modes. (iPad)
I recently got a new iPad (9th gen) and I would like to know if Portrait Mode and Centre Stage is available in the Camera app’s video mode?
iPad, iPadOS 15
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!

Yeah, I understand and know that the 9th gen iPad has those features on the front facing camera ONLY.
I was trying to state, rather badly, that these features are NOT available on any of the rear cameras of ANY of the newest iPad models.

ONLY the Centerstage feature is available to your base model, 9th gen iPad and NOT the Portarit ( blurred image background ) mode.
There is NO Portrait image mode for the base model 9th gen iPad. NOT available.
You activate the Centerstage feature in the iPadOS Control Centre drop down panel AFTER you initiate a FaceTime call
Tap the link below.
Use Center Stage on your iPad - Apple Support
Your base model, 9th gen iPad has NO Portrait image mode, at all.
Portarit mode is NOT mentioned as a feature for the FaceTime front facing camera.
NO mention of Portrait mode for the 9th gen iPad.

Centre Stage works with all of the 2021 models of iPad:
You can use Centre Stage during a FaceTime call and when you're using other compatible video apps.
No.
Centerstsge feature is ONLY for Facetime video calls on the front facing camera.
It does not work with the Camera app or with your iPad's rear camera, either.
Your base model iPad has NO Portrait image mode! None.
So forget about that feature. It does NOT exist for your base iPad model.
Yeah, that’s strange. I have ‘Facetimed’ a few people since Saturday (so Saturday, Sunday, Monday AEST). And I can see a noticeable difference in the image/video mainly the background blur. Maybe they forgot to mention it in the ‘Specs’.

Apple never forgets or screws up on the specs of their devices.
If you are seeing some sort of image blur, it is because of the canera's advance calculation digital image panning and scanning of the video movemnets by the Centerstage feature.
Maybe this feature was updated for other newer iPads in a later iPadOS 15 update for which I am not aware.
If the Portrait mode seems to be working, in the latest, iPadOS 15 update, then great!
Initially, when iPadOS 15 and the 9th gen iPad were first introduced, the Portrait image mode feature was NOT available to this base iPad model.
Try taking a selfie with the front facing camera with camera app, with Portrait OFF, then ON, and let me know if this is working.
Cemterstage feature is STILL ONLY for FaceTime video calls.
Also, NO current iPad models have the Portrait image mode available for use with the rear, back camera.
Ok thanks!
I thought that the picture below (taken on my iPad 9th gen) meant that I had Portrait/Blurred Background!
Thanks so much for your help!

I wonder why it showed up as 2 effects.

No.
Sorry.
Portarit mode and the Centerstage feature are ONLY available to the newest 2021 iPad Pro models and ONLY to the front facing cameras in those models ONLY.
My iPad has Centrestage and Portrait modes. But I was wondering if you could use those features in the Camera app.
Can I use the features on the front facing in the CAMERA APP? If so how?
Can I use. Centerstage and/or Portrait mode in the Camera app itself? Or is it exclusive to Facetime?
Thanks so much!
