Apple Watch 7 and Third-Party Chargers.

Is Apple Watch 7, either by hardware or via software, having issues with non-Apple chargers?.

My old watch had no issues charging with my workstations, or room, chargers (the 3-1 mini stands), but I cannot get a decent, even less, a full charge with my Watch 7.

I have gone to bed with it after I thought it had topped up the Watch, just to find out it died halfway through the night. Testing it, it charges really fast with the newest provided in box Apple charger, but it fails to do so any third-party charger (tried with mine and friend's one), but there is no notes put out by Apple of such an issue.

Anybody else having the same problem?.

I have a two week old Apple watch series seven that charged correctly on a third party 3 in 1 charger until I updated to watchIO8.5.1. Now the watch repeatedly wakes up while charging. I've returned two 3 in 1 chargers to Amazon but I'm really not happy with using the in the box charger (plus the purchase of a C type block) and another wire on my night table. Really disappointed with Apple.

I MAY have solved this issue. Some additional research makes me think that the Apple watch has a very temperature sensitive charging circuit. If the watch goes above 30C the watch will disconnect from the charger. Once the watch cools to 28C it will reconnect to the charger and you'll have the screen light up and get a ding. The suggestion is to turn off the sound on the watch when charging overnight in your bedroom. I tested this during the day and it seemed to work. I think I will also put the watch into theater mode as well as turning off the sound. It's worth a try.

That’s just a joke! The 3rd party charger, quite expensive I might add, worked just fine until Apple updated the software, now it’s just a pile of junk, that when you put the expensive 7 series on it, just recycles thru the power options, draining the battery.

why cant Apple just reinstate the charging capability so all the folk who bought 3rd party chargers are able to use them.

This is really not great customer service and to be honest I’m re-evaluating my choice to buy Apple products.

if you can’t rely on the product working in a normal manner then quite frankly we’ve bought the wrong product !!

This situation led to my husband today recycling his 2 Apple Watches and getting a new one. He went to get his two dead Watches fixed at the Apple Store today after they suddenly stopped charging on his 3-in-1 charging station (which was an Xmas gift). The Apple “genius” said he couldn’t get either Watch to start. Blamed it on the third-party 3-in-1 charger. (!) The Phone and iPods are still charging. Only the Watches failed after an update. This is very disappointing! We don’t need more clutter with various chargers! It feels like a ripoff!

I am having this issue as well. I have a 3-in-1 charger and recently upgraded from an Apple Watch 3 to an Apple Watch 7. My iPhone 12 Pro still charges fine on my third-party charger, but my Apple Watch 7 does not. When I put the watch on the charging dock, the watch acknowledges that it is on a charger and the charging icons appear on the watch face. After about a minute or two, those charging icons go away and it is just the normal watch face. Hopefully Apple can address this in the next Apple Watch software update.

It’s the Watch IOS. It’s a known issue with Apple; they keep saying they are fixing it with the next update, and then it doesn’t work. For anyone who doesn’t want to have a series of separate chargers for phone earbuds and watch cluttering their table, it is beyond aggravating. Maybe they’ll finally fix it with the next update.
