7,8,9,U,I,O,J,K,L,M and the . keys stopped responding. The comma key works just fine though. I’ve followed the “Systems Preferences” advice on other posts and disconnected and repaired (interestingly the code to re-pair it included keys which don’t respond and were accepted just fine when pressed for that purpose.) Still no luck. Any other ideas anyone?

This is normally caused by your having Mouse Keys turned on. Go to your Accessibility preferences and turn Mouse Keys OFF. Hitting the option key 5 times may also do it.

Replace with new or schedule repair https://getsupport.apple.com/ assuming it’s not obsolete and still under warranty.
HOOORAY!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Mouse keys have been disabled and keys are now working properly. Tom you are today’s hero in my house.
