My iPad is stuck on a bootloop.

As an artist, I use my iPad as my main and only source of creative freedom. I use the program Procreate the most on it. Recently, I've tried using a bigger canvas size, however, it makes the app run weird. I made the canvas size much smaller, and it seemed to run fine. However recently, my whole iPad would turn off and restart itself mid-drawing. I've tried fixing it many different ways; by doing a hard reset, clearing storage space (half-full), and even letting it die and recharge it. The same thing happens. I can't access my iPad on my PC either as I've never gotten the option to choose my PC as a trusted device.

How do I fix this? This is extremely infuriating that I cannot work on anything currently.

iPad, iPadOS 15

c4tb0y,

Thanks for clarifying. If your iPad is stuck at the Apple logo and won't boot past it, we'd recommend you try to connect it to your PC in recovery mode, then update and restore it. Bear in mind this does wipe data on the iPad that has not been backed up already.

If you still can't restore it in that manner or the computer still won't recognize it, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly at that point as this may be indicative of a hardware issue with the iPad.

Take care.

Hi c4tb0y,

We see your iPad currently turns itself off while using Procreate.

To clarify do you only notice this in Procreate? What about other task management apps or browsers, etc? If you play any games on your iPad, does it restart then?

Also, what specifically happens when you try to connect your iPad to your PC, does it charge at least? Also if you have multiple USB ports on your PC, try all of them and see if there's any change.

Let us know these additional details, and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!

It started off with only procreate the first couple of times it happened, but it's now stuck on the apple logo. I can't access anything anymore.

It doesn't charge when I hook it up to my PC as I've never given it the option to trust my PC before, so it just doesn't read it.

I've tried all other USB ports, and I know it's not the charger's fault because I've tried both my new AND old ones.

I hope this answers everything!

Next, try Clearing Space:

To Clear Space, Refer to the following...

Troubleshooting iPhone Storage:

Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

So, what to do:

Clear Space:

Try clearing internal storage though use of the following:

What Space to Clear:

A. Clear Temporary Internet Files:

Clear your Temporary Internet Files(Cookies & Cache) of Safari:

Also...

B. Clean TV and Music Libraries:

Remove all unneeded files from your TV and Music Libraries. Full-Movies take up 2-4GB typically, and a bunch of those would take up a load of storage, ideally. So, if you have any movies that are not needed, then delete them.

Also..

C. Clear "Other":

Clear the storage named "Other". It basically contains unnecessary files such as caches that are used for system ease of use - all of which gather over time. Use my Computer: Making Use of a Computer for Updating an iOS Device - User Tip. Caches would be being used for remembrance of application use. So, clearing other may be the way to go about this, as it would be performs through use of a computer.
