Purchasing Apple Care+

Hi,

I bought a MacBook Air Open Box from Best Buy Nov 21, 2021. I am trying to add Apple Care+ to my plan as I understand that I have 60 days from purchase to add it. However, I am unable to. I don’t understand why this is? Please help.

Thanks.

check with Apple, but Applecare has never been available on used products. You can check in this link

https://www.apple.com/support/products/mac

note this on that page:

Purchase AppleCare+ with your new Mac.

The link states that Apple Care is available for purchase on certified refurbished products. I spoke with Apple already but the rep wasn’t very helpful. I provided a receipt with date of purchase Nov 21 but the rep was referring to the ship date and warranty which is 90 days. I didn’t understand what that had to do with buying Apple Care within 60 days of purchase.

I am going to have to level this up and speak with a manager at Best Buy and Apple cause I should be able to buy it regardless of ship date or if it’s used / refurbished as stated in the link I provided. I will come back to this thread after i speak with both companies tomorrow.

Thank you for the replies.
