most garageband loops are all greyed out

I'm a new garageband user. I have installed Garageband v 10.3.5. on my macbook running Mac Os 10.13.6. I am trying to help out my son using garageband but it seems that most of the loops are greyed out in the loop browser. I go to loop packs - all genres, and the only a few are accessible - see below:

Most of them are greyed out. I've downloaded all available sounds and also reinstalled the sound library and reindexed all loops. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello DCAppleuser,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities, and based on your message, any loops you've already downloaded have been greyed out. We'll do what we can to help.

Since you've already reinstall the sound library and reindexed all loops, restart the Mac and try those steps again.

If there are still issues, try downloading the loops while the Mac is in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac

As a last step, try removing GarageBand and then installing it again back too the Mac: How to uninstall apps on your Mac

If you're still having issues after all the steps, reach out to Apple Support directly: Get Support

Thanks and have a great day.
