Hide My Email is currently unavailable (on iOS devices)

I am receiving the following error on my iPhone when I reply to an email message sent to a "hide my email" alias.


Hide My Email is currently unavailable


On my Mac, the message is much more generic:


Something went wrong


However, if I log into iCloud.com and reply to an email message sent to a "hide my email" alias, it works just fine.


Bug? or feature? or something in between? Either way, an inconvenience. Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.

Yea, i am quite fully aware that I need to be signed in, with the same apple id, across all devices. this is not just a one-off occurance. This is happening consistantly, all days, all hours and has nothing to do with apple mail status since I can receive email to "hide my email" aliases.

Note: Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID on each device. If you have devices where you are not signed in with your Apple ID, you will not be able to access Hide My Email on those devices.
