back glass shattered and back camera lens shattered without dropping

Hello, i have some serious concerns that I would like to talk about. I've had my iPhone XR for less than a year and the back glass shattered from being in my pocket with a protective case on it. This occurred with a full-blown case with shock resistance and warmth protection As well as prior to the back glass shattering, the glass lens on the back camera shattered so bad that i cant even use it to take any sort of photo, (by the way it shattered without dropping, I was taking a picture of the water and after snapping the shot, I heard a pop and looked at the back of my phone and realized that the glass on the lens had shattered. ) Ive never had this happen to any of my phones in the past and I've owned more then 8. Not one has broken nor had any problems like this. Oh as well as since the time of the lens shattering, my phone has consistently told me that it has water damage, but idk even know how that is possible since I've never used it anywhere near a water source besides outside in the cold. Never take it out in the rain or anything else..... At this point, I'm just disappointed and don't really know what to do since these sorts of things i don't believe are coved under warenty. Anyways i hope someone can help me because if not im just not going to buy an iPhone again.

I removed my comment because I thought I read had your phone in your back pocket. Then I reread and see you just said pocket. But putting an all glass device in a pocket, with us sitting, can still put stress, especially if you wear the new style tighter pants.

Personally, I keep my phone in a belt clip case, which is never in a pants pocket, so can't be stressed.

This is an example of how I've kept my iPhones safe for the last few generations:

The battery won't work well below 0 Celsius. Samsung, nor Google phones won't either. Lion batteries and cold aren't great friends. It's not however, the likely reason the glass broke on your phone. You may never know what caused the break.

I live in a warm climate. But pre-Covid, we travelled to Maine in the dead of winter and I kept my iPhone in a Phoozy insulated case to avoid battery drop in cold weather. It worked really well.

ye my question is how when taking a photo of the water does the camera lens break and then when I get home and take it out of my pocket does the back glass shatter with the case on and nothing else in my pockets

(I live in Canada and I was taking photos during winter) but I didn't think apple glass was that garbage that it wouldn't withstand normal Canadian weather (-1 degree celsius)

see that makes sence and i will do that from this point forward but that don't explain why apple would design a product to not be useable in all of the northern hemisphere for more then half the year. because of the weather only being able to go to 0 celecis. This is the main issue I have because I didn't drop or sit on my phone I had it in my pocket and walked home from there then took it out of my pocket and saw that they back glass had shattered as well after the camera shatted from taking a beautifully winter photo of the water
