This thread also discusses the second problem. Why am I confusing people? I describe the facts from my personal experience, which may be useful to people who are faced with a similar problem, and there are quite a few of them. In any case, it is rather strange that you write on behalf of all the people on this forum. By the way, it is you who are misleading people by offering them to hand over their MacBooks or carry them to the service.

The problem description from AzoreanFox (see top of this page) clearly states:

That is only issue 1, plain and simple. A lot of people came into this thread describing a more general crackling sound problem. That is issue 2. Issue 1 has a clear work around. Issue 2 does not. Discussing both issues (and possible solutions) in the same thread is confusing. No matter who is doing it.

If my MacBook had issue 2 (crackling sounds happening in all applications) I would have turned it in for service a long time ago, that's the only advise I'm trying to give.

Please create a new thread for discussing issue 2.

This makes not a sense... the crackling/distortion is here for issue 1 and 2 sometimes more sometimes less.

And after a reboot also also in save mode is better but it comes back.

Perhaps it is a cache problem.

Curious what exactly was your problem? I’ve had crackling from the left side of my new m1pro for a few weeks, really bad at first. Sent in for repair and they replaced the top case and battery. Got it back still there on the left reproducibly but much less. Have it set up to send back in but wondered if I should try deleting the plist files or other maneuvers.

It doesn't look like Apple even knows about this problem, or they don't care. Moreover, this is far from the only problem with the M1. I can't even use mouse scrolling properly. It's just a shame, not Apple.

Apple knows about the problem. Service knows about it, and I reported the problem via Feedback assistant. There I received a request for more diagnostic data. So they definitely know about it. They don't have a solution.

Of course I don't. Have you gone into accessibility settings and made sure you've made all the adjustments you can to the mouse? Even the Magic Mouse didn't scroll as I wanted until I changed the settings for it.

When I bought my MacBook Pro M1 a couple weeks ago, I bought the Logitech MX Master 3 (the Mac version) for it. The mouse is a great mouse BECAUSE of the Logitech Options app which lets you program the buttons for certain actions. But Logitech has not updated the app to be compatible with a M1 Silicone Mac, so it wasn't programmable at all. They wound up admitting it's not compatible with an M1 Silicone. Odd they would sell a mouse specifically referencing Mac? So I returned it for the Magic Mouse, which is a great mouse with a MacBook Pro for sure.

I have a magic mouse and also a Logi mouse and the Magic mouse is incomparably better. The touch surface is adapted to the system. Logi tries to make up for it but other than the 3rd button it has nothing better. I only use it on the Fussion 360.

Do you have the newest 2021 M1 MacBook Pro with the silicone M1 chip? Two sessions with high level Logi support and they could not only not get the Options app to work, but finally admitted that the app is built on Intel technology and is not compatible with M1 Silicone at all.

Interesting. I actually had two sessions with higher level Logitech support and they could not get it to run on my MacBook Pro and finally told me that because the app is based on Intel Architecture, they are working on updating the app to the Silicone ARM, but it's not ready. Do you have it running through Rosetta, which is an option I could have used, but chose to just not deal with it.

And therein lies the issue. It's Intel based and at least on my brand new MacBook Pro, Options would not run. I could download it. But I could not get it run in the way it would allow me to program anything.

Why do you need this option app at all? For instance I have Logi Wireless pro gaming mouse, which is not designed for M1 by definition and I didn’t install any extra applications for it. The only issue I have is scrolling. It doesn’t work smoothly. But this problem can be easy solved by installing a little utility called Mos

What sets a MX Master mouse apart from other mice is the ability to program the extra buttons and extra scroll wheel built into the mouse. And to program those buttons, you need the Options app from Logitech. The mouse works without the Options app. But if the Options app can't run on a M1 Silicone MacBook Pro, it will only work as just a mouse, so a total waste of spending the extra money for a mouse which can't be programmed as it was meant to be.
