The attachment icon disappeared from Mail Inbox after update to Monterey

In Apple Mail >> " View " menu in top menu bar and switch to " Use Column Layout ". Then Right click the Header Subject and sub menu appear and Enable " Attachments ".

The solution didn't work for me. I click on column layout and it swifts to vertical rather than my beloved horizontal view. I'd like to keep horizontal lists (with the email showing underneath) yet get the attachment icon as an inbox column. It's super handy to be able to quickly spot the emails with attachments.

I have the same issue but this solution doesn't work for me. I'm already in column view, with the attachments column showing. I purchased a new MacBook Pro in December 2021. All emails (with attachments) that arrived before then show the icon in the attachment column. All emails with attachments that arrived after that do not have the attachment icon. Many thanks.
