iPhone won't ring when Facebook App is open

As you can see below. Since Jan. 2, just on this page alone, so many have tried and tried to resolve. Even Apple techs were given opportunity and fail. Adjusting the Blue Tooth setting will get you one free pass and then it fails.

Go to Settings - Go to Facebook - toggle Bluetooth OFF. This is what I did and now I hear the ring as well as see the call coming through. Always could see it, but it didn’t ring. Now I hear my phone calls while the Facebook app is open and active.

Hey guys I have an iPhone XR but experience the same problem. I turned off Bluetooth as well but no luck. This is really frustrating, I miss many calls because of this :(

I’m trying to remember to close down the fb app after using it or open fb in the browser. Not ideal. Many people I’ve mentioned this to hadn’t realised until I showed them their phone doesn’t ring and they’re missing calls!

Just FYI: I reported this problem to Facebook on Feb. 7, 2022, mentioning that Apple said it was a issue with Facebook. Of course I have received no reply from Facebook and unfortunately I don't expect to. Problem is still occurring for me today. If the FB App is open, my incoming calls are not ringing.

I have an iphone 8. Same problem, if I am in Facebook and I get a call it doesn't ring but does put a banner at the top of the screen. I went to the App store and searched for Facebook. It indicated it had an update, so I did it, then put my phone in facebook and called my number from my landline and it rang. Tried the same thing a second time, and no ring - back to square one.

I’ve spent more than a few hours on the phone with Verizon tech-support with no success, and yesterday I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Apple tech-support and they are all stumped.

I take it that since we’re all having the same **** problem that it’s not our phones. It has to be something with one of the updates.

I just wish these brainiacs would hurry up and figure it out because I’ve missed more than a few important phone calls.

You might be right in thinking that it is Facebook.

Because I started having this issue on my iPhone 11 a few months ago, and then I got my new iPhone 13 Pro the first week of January and it was doing the same thing.

The Apple tech-support agent told me yesterday that they thought maybe it was a software issue and when I install the back up onto my new phone that I just carried over the problem from old phone.

I have the latest update I still need to install, and she wanted me to install that new update and see if that fixed it, and if not, she wanted me to call back and they would do a complete reset and set up as new. But that’s not going to help if it’s Facebook.

One of the Verizon tech-support agents had me reset my network settings, and reset all settings but nothing worked.

If I was on Facebook and a call came in I would have no indication at all that somebody was trying to contact me. But now, I’ve at least got the on screen notifications turned on to work it will let me know. Just no sound.

What’s really weird is I’ve missed calls coming through when I was on Facebook, because the phone didn’t ring, but then I would hear the notification bell that somebody left a voicemail.

I kept thinking to myself “that’s freaking weird that I can get a voicemail even though nobody called me.“

I tried this last week but it didn’t work. The phone rings initially (so I thoughtful fixed) but if fb is minimised then I use it the phone fails to ring again.. If I close fb completely and open, the phone rings but not when I minimise again. Minimising fb appears to be the problem.

I think it’s a Facebook issue. My husband and I have the same iPhones, all of our settings are the same but his phone will ring when he’s on Facebook but mine will not.

I too have tried resetting my phone, deleting and reinstalling Facebook and reached out to Facebook but nothing seems to fix this problem.

That’s bad enough, but what has really got me fuming mad right now is that for the last few weeks the Bluetooth won’t Sync with my car. I will try and try and try and even when it finally does Sync up with my car, once I leave the car and come back it won’t connect with it again.

It seems the only way is to erase it from my phone, and then on my car have it “forget all devices“ and start from scratch.

It’s very frustrating if you’re driving a lot that you can’t make a phone calls because your Bluetooth not working.

last night I got on the phone with one of Apple‘s tech-support and she told me she was going to “take ownership“ of my issue so I would only be dealing with her.

she escalated the issue to their engineers last night and she scheduled a time to call me back today.

So she called me at 5 PM and we’re going to run some analysis on my phone, and she said it will be sent to the engineers to see if they can figure out what the issue is.

But the other representatives I had been talking to before her kept telling me they had no idea there was a problem with the iPhone 13 Pro having a connectivity issue with the Bluetooth in the cars, and I told them all you have to do is Google it and you’ll see 50 websites or there’s chat forums in groups that are talking about it and everybody has the same phone they’re having a problem with so you better get on the ball and figure it out.

She’s checking on something right now and she will call me back in the next 20 to 30 minutes I sure hope they can get that fixed

I had the same issue. Sometimes my phone would ring with my Facebook app open and sometimes it wouldn’t.

Played with my phone for a bit and realized that my sleep schedule is focus was on. During those scheduled “sleep times” my phone wouldn’t ring when my apps were open. Turned off sleep schedule and alarms and it fixed the problem.

I so hoped that would fix it for me but I never turned anything on for my health app.. I checked it out and it’s still waiting to get started🤷‍♀️.my husband feels this is a targeted failure to enhance an upgrade!

Took my iPhone 13 to carrier twice for no ring problem Apple support 3 times even did reset took to Best Buy nobody can figure it out out of all the help I’ve had it’s definitely Facebook issue and from experience I know you’ll never get a reply
