That’s one way to look at it. The other way is simply restore your phone as described on this very page and you will have a working $800 phone. In fact, I’ll even repeat the instructions so you don’t have to scroll up to see them:

And I want to add to my above post, I did not forget password. This happened just sitting in my pocket.
See the post right above yours. If it was in your pocket with the screen facing your body the contact with your body probably entered multiple wrong passcodes.
Thanks. I guess that's a ;possibility, but my screen locks pretty quickly.
Do you have Raise to Wake enabled?
it’s also possible your screen digitizer is failing.

"No network available" means that your phone is not connected to a cellular network, which is required to activate it.
This is explained in the thread you posted to. By all means get a different phone, that is your choice. No one in this user to user forum cares how you spend your money.
