When I ask Siri on the HomePod for the weather it just replies with “weather for where?” This has only started over the past couple of weeks. My iPhone is completely up to date. I have also switched it off and back on

Try turning location services off and then on again. If should be found under Home app > Home icon > Home Settings > Location Services. If that hasn't helped you may have to wait for the next iOS update.

Yes. In speaking with apple apparently it’s a new feature to make it more helpful to get the weather for anywhere. Makes sense, but I preferred it just telling me what the weather was like for my local area.
I did that and a hard reset on my phone. Seems to have done the trick! 👍🏼
Whoever said that was talking rubbish. Weather and news etc should always be based on the location setting as image above.
