Interference between AirPods 3 and MX Master 3

macOS build: 12.1 (21C52)

laptop: MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

Recently I was told my voice heard in video meetings sounds robotic like and contains static. I confirmed that by recording my voice in Voice Memos when using both the mouse and AirPods 3.

I also confirmed that the AirPods would work just fine if I turn off my mouse. Any way to resolve the problem? MX Master 3 only supports connecting via Bluetooth.

Hello Everyone,

I had fairly similar issue (not the robot voice, but the signal cracking using Mx master 3 and any Bluetooth headphones). None of the solutions presented above solved it for me, and I am also recently on Ventura, which also didn't solve.

But all those pointers lead me to think the main issue was a conflict between the two "continuity" functions both logitech and apple offer, to be able to move mouth through different device. (They probably don't want to fix the issue cause they both want you to dedicate to one system...)

Anyhow, I found a setting that did it, and I haven't seen it here, so I thought of sharing as this was so annoying and it seems to be well gone now for me:

Settings --> display --> Advanced --> deactivate the first setting, the one that basically activates this continuity setting.

The problem was finally solved for me. I hope it can help someone out there!

Here are my exact steps that I did after updating to 12.3.1. In Bluetooth System Preferences:

  1. Right click on MX Master 2S. Click 'Remove'.
  2. Click on 'Turn Bluetooth Off'. Devices List should go blank.
  3. Under the mouse, select a different channel than the one you were currently using. The channel LED should be a slow blink.
  4. Hold the channel select button down for about 5 seconds to put it into discovery mode. The channel LED should be a fast blink.
  5. In Bluetooth System Preferences, click on 'Turn Bluetooth On'.
  6. Click on 'Connect' next to MX Master 2S.

After I did this, I don't sound robotic anymore with my Airpods Pro and MX Master 2S connected via bluetooth.

Same issue for me. I worked for about 3 months with Apple Support to come to this point. I don't want a USB dongle here!

My Mac only has only USB-C! So I would need to buy some connectors additionally.

As Apple takes out connectors and builds computers with fewer and fewer adapters, they MUST be able to setup up working wireless connections! That's mandatory.

UPDATE from OP: I worked around the problem by switching to use the USB receiver for MX Master 3. After that everything works happily.

It must be Apple's bluetooth driver's fault. The mouse STILL connects via bluetooth, just now to the receiver and not the laptop directly. The same radio wave is still there but the interference is gone.

I have the same issue and same solution with Airpods Pro and Logitech MX Master 2S.

I sound robotic with mouse on connected through bluetooth.

I sound normal with the mouse turned off.

I sound normal with mouse on connected through Logitech USB Unifying receiver.

It seems like the problem began when I updated to macOS Monterey. I didn't have this problem with Big Sur.

I have this issue too, after upgrading to Monterey on my work laptop.

I don't have the unifying receiver anymore, and it is a real pain to switch my mx master 3 mouse off everytime I connect for meetings with my airpods.

Apple can you fix this please? It was working on Big Sur for me, something about Monterey caused this.

I just figured that I've got the same issue. Took me even a clean install until I figured out it's the mouse.

In regards to your comment about the Bluetooth driver: The dongle connects the mouse via Logitechs proprietary unifying protocol, so that's not bluetooth and another driver.

I have the mouse configured to switch the desktop with the 2 extra buttons. If I use the dongle, that switching lags a lot. It takes a few seconds sometimes until I get an reaction.

So it seems I can either use my AirPods, or switch between desktops seamlessly. :/

I have had the same exact problem. In my case with a Logitech MX Anywhere 2s mouse. What I've found is that after I connect a screenshare and my voice is robotic. I simply have to switch-off the mouse and switch it back on again (literally the mouse's power switch) and everything is fine again for that entire session.

If I end the screenshare and start a new one, my voice is robotic again. But the same thing (turning the mouse off and on again) works each time.
