On 9/20/21 I received an email saying that I had been upgraded to icloud+ for free. I am still being charged .99 a month. Please explain why.

The upgrade was free, and added several "free" features, but you still have to pay for the previously subscribed plan. WHAT IS ICLOUD PLUS AND IS IT FREE FOR ALL APPLE USERS? provides further information.
