Are you trying to add the audio to your Music library, or are you trying to just play the records using the Mac speakers? If the latter, pls check over in the Mac Forum. (BTW, it is an unusual thing to do.)
If the record player has a USB connector, hook it up. If it has the old AV (red, while, yellow) connections, get an adapter to USB.
