ICM Profiles what folders is used for the monitor to pick up the profile?

Mac mini (Late 2012)

I've calibrated my monitor (using X-Rite, i1-Studio), the ICM profile (BenQ SW2700_20220106.icm) has been stored in my user ~/Library/Colorsync/Profiles (User folder) by the X-Rite application.

I also came across the system level folder "/Library/Colorsync/Profiles" (System wide).

  1. What would be the correct folder to use so that the new ICM profile is picked up and used by my BENQ monitor?
  2. And, how can I determine what ICM profile is in use or applied to the monitor?

Any assistance / direction would be most kind.

Thank you.

Stephen

  1. If you have multiple user accounts on the Mac, then you'd want it in the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder so all users can access and choose the same profile. Otherwise for a single user, it doesn't matter which Profiles folder your custom profile is in.
  2. Open the System Preferences, click on Displays. The active monitor profile will be shown, which the X-Rite software should automatically make the profile it just finished creating at the end of the process. Such as show here for my EIZO monitor.
