Why is download of Xcode so slow?
This same question was asked on October 12th, 2011 by Erly who was trying to download Xcode 3.6.
Here I am on January 7th, 2022 trying to download Xcode 13.2.1 over a half-Gig internet connection, and it MIGHT be done by 6 hours at the rate its going.
Sure its 12.6 GB in size, but I was able to upload & download 15 & 35 GB files to Google Drive faster than this is just downloading.
Apple...
Maybe you need to get some expertise from other companies like AWS, GoogleCloud or even Netflix.
Maybe you need to learn how to offer mirrors... the Linux community's been doing that for decades.
Maybe for JUST YOUR FAT AppStore downloads (say anything over 2 GB)... you make your download utility look to MIRRORS YOU STAGE around the world (I'm assuming you prefer code/AI to choose instead of us.)
You had people warning you about this 11 years ago, and what have you done? Nothing apparently.
I could keep rambling on here...
Let's see... I'm setting up this new Apple 14" Macbook Pro with the M1 Pro...
I had just downloaded and installed 10 other development tools in less time than Xcode has gotten to 20%... and one of them reminded me it depends on Xcode... so here I am.
This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. It's not even to 25%... I've heated and eaten lunch... used the restroom... done some work... tested my bandwidth... and rambled on with this entry.... maybe 23% at most.
