Apple Watch with visual map navigation for road cycling (not turn by turn)

Hey Everyone

So I got an Apple Watch 7 after a few years of not having one (had a series 3 at release), with the intention to use it for navigation while road cycling.

I tried Google Maps and to my surprise noticed that I can only perform basic turn-by-turn navigation (which also needs to be initiated from one’s iPhone!)

Giving Apple Maps a try I was at least able to switch from turn-by-turn to map view while navigating, only to find that Apple maps does not offer (city) cycling transport mode in the country!

Are there other apps out there that will be able to reliably offer on-screen map navigation on Apple Watch while city cycling? Many thanks!
