File download error on Safari - not enough free space

Hello, after an update a few months ago Safari won't let me download anything because "the disk doesn’t have enough free space", which is not true since I have plenty of space. I tried to follow a previous advice but it does not work. Please advise what to do.

Thanks

MacBook, 11.6

Hello cnesheva,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with downloading items in Safari due to a storage error. Does this also occur when testing in another user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Does it occur if you reindex your Mac as described here: Rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac

Also, does this occur when you use Private Browsing as described here: Use Private Browsing in Safari on Mac

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

We understand cnesheva,

While we understand that you haven't tried the testing we recommended, we recommend giving those steps a try to see if they resolve the issue. If the issue persists, does changing the download destination folder resolve the problem under Safari > Preferences > General? If not, try testing the issue in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode

If the issue persists in safe mode, we recommend reaching out to Apple directly for assistance with resolving the issue here: Get Support

Cheers!

I do not have any other users set on my Mac. It occurs in the normal browsing regime. I am not using private browsing. I have no issues with Spotlight. the issue is that when I use my email in the Safari and want to download an attachment, I get the error message that there is not enough disk space, which is not the case. it is extremely annoying.
