Setting up new ipad for son

Hello, got a new ipad for my son and we’re having issues getting it set up. On the initial setup, we made the mistake of using the Apple ID for my cell phone which then put all of my info on his iPad. He’s getting my texts, apps he adds to his iPad are showing up on my phone too, etc. So we try to set up a new Apple ID for him with the intention of wiping his ipad and starting fresh with the new and separate id. Unfortunately, that just changed the Apple ID on my iPhone to his new user name and all is messed up probably even worse now. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Jonneedshelpfromapple, thank you for posting on Apple Support Communities.

Unfortunately, your AppleID is linked to the iPad you are wanting to use for your son and needs to be removed first. This link will explain it in more detail.

Apple does recommend that you do not share an AppleID and to create a Unique AppleID for each family member as per the following link.

If you are still having issues please contact Apple Support.

You can do this as follows:

Online:--> Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple;
Contacting a local Apple Store or AASP among the list provided above but also again as follows Apple – Location Selector; or
Using the "Apple Support" app, available and downloadable from App Store.

I hope once it is all sorted your son enjoys his new iPad.
