Ipad not charging while using Duet Display

I've had this problem before but it got resolved somehow and I never seem to remember how. But now I tried something again and it worked. It's just a matter of ports on your system. At least that's the case with mine. I have a dell Inspiron 15 7559 and it doesn't charge from the two USB 3.0 ports on the left. But there's another USB 3.0 port on the right with PowerShare. This kind of port allows the transfer of power to charge the connected device. So I connected the cable to that port. BOOM! It charges. I would suggest checking your laptop's specifications in the manual to see if any of your USB ports supports PowerShare.

This reply is for @EnigmaticManiac. I couldn't reply to the older conversation so I had to do this.

I hope this information is of some use.

Thanks.

Many computer USB ports are only capable of providing 2.5-5.0W (i.e, 0.5-1.0A @5V) - this being inadequate to charge the majority of iPad devices. Most iPad models require a minimum 10-12W (i.e., 2.0-2.4A @5V) to reliably charge.

Your Powershare ports are explicitly designed to provide a high-power USB charging source.
