Delays in getting mail content once an email is opened

I'm on a new MacBook Pro - Monterrey and using Apple's mail service: firstnamelastname@me.com.

I'm experiencing delays in getting mail content; especially in the morning. I'll see mail messages, open them, the header is there but the content is blank. Sometimes it takes 20-30 minutes for the mail to fill in. It isn't the internet, I have 300 megs symmetrical, all other apps, streaming video are working well.

These mails are coming from a variety of different sources, i.e. Comcast, Cox, etc.; but as we know with 'the Cloud', we have a million single points of failure; these other networks have probably dumped their services onto someone else's cloud so it could be AWS or Azure, etc. that's having a problem? I've selected iCloud as the topic since I don't see Mail.

Thoughts.
