Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt 3 Adapter • Can I still import Mini-DV to my MacBook Pro 2016 Monterey?

Hello,

I am seeking information as to wether I can still import Mini-DV format to my MacBook Pro 2016 with Monterey?. Apple makes a 800 FW to Thunderbolt 3 adapter but does the Monterey OS allow the Mini-DV format?. The funny thing is I'm trying to import video I shot in/above Hollister, Ca in 2000-2002 and the operating system is Monterey haha maybe a few will get this but from 13,000' Monterey was almost below us......

your Mac is not now and never has been equipped to capture full motion Video at speed in real time. so if that is all you had asked about, my answer would have been a resounding NO.

But since you mentioned a FireWire interface, MANY devices are able to forward video information that has already been digitized, to a Mac over FireWire, with great success. All the high data rates and time constrains of capturing that Video as it rolls by in real time has been already been digitized.
