iPhone X stuck in boot loop, now stuck on recovery screen

yesterday my phone randomly got stuck in a boot loop, just flashing the apple logo, black screen, apple logo, black screen, over and over. i was able to forcefully shut it down with the volume button power button sequence, but upon startup would just loop again. i tried updating it connected to my computer, no change, still on the restore screen, tried restoring it, then when that finished it was AGAIN doing the boot loop. i tried to update it again and it said i could no longer update it, only restore. tried the restore TWO MORE TIMES, nothing. now my phone is just permanently on the restore screen with the link to the restore page at the top, waiting for it to die.
