2020 MacBook Pro Issues

Frustrated and puzzled customer here.

June of 2020 I purchased the MacBook Pro i5 13” 2020. A few days ago it randomly shut down, and every time I turn it on since then it goes to a black screen. I spoke with Apple Support and we tried 6 different steps to see if anything could be done, same thing happened every time - apple logo would show up on the screen, it would show it has started to load and then the screen would flicker and go back to a black screen.

I took it to the Genius Bar and they told me it would cost $600 to fix since my Apple Care expired after one year (in June 2021).

I feel it is important to mention that prior to this laptop I had a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro that never had any issues, I used it for 9 years. This new laptop was a very big investment for me and I purchased it with the hope that it’ll last me another 9 or so years.

I have read a few forums where people have had a similar issue, took it to Apple and got it fixed, and it happened again in a few months.

Paying $600 for something to be fixed that is absolutely not my fault makes me furious and disappointed - but I wanted to know if there is anyone out there with any tips or ideas as to what I can do. Just looking for some help.
