Indexing of mail inbox

Does anyone else find this difficult?

OK, first off I'll admit I'm a pack-rat when it comes to email, I let things accumulate. In the past, I would let it go until I couldn't stand it anymore then I'd go to the top if the column, sort the inbox by "From:" - after which I could capture whole blocks of potentially hundreds by the same spammers, and then delete.

Thanks to the new improved Mojave Update, it looks like that is not longer an option. Is there a way to index, by sender, without typing the individual name etc in the box on the top right corner? Either I'm not seeing something or this is a really stupid feature on this "upgrade."
