Monterey upgrade

I have BigSur 11.6.1 and am a bit scared of updating to Monterey.

I hear people have had trouble with their Photos not being the same and being faded etc.

Do I have to update to Monterey as I don't use my Mac for anything much apart from e-mails and web searching, Excel and Word.

I do like my Photos and Apple TV and I don't want anything to change. I was very happy with the initial iPhoto and Catalina made a lot of changes to that and I don't want the same big change.
