Thank you. Yes, I found the instructions (per your link above). The key was to open the Touch ID option under System Preferences. Then, follow the instructions for adding a new finger ID. I did that and it now works again. I think the OS upgrade must have wiped out the previous data - not positive about that but seems likely.
