If I sold my old Apple Watch how do I take it off my account so the other person can use it

If I sold my old Apple Watch how do I take it off my account so the other person can use it? We reset the watch but it won’t allow her to connect because it says it’s still connected to my account and I even removed that watch from my account. I’m trying to disconnect the Apple Watch Series 3 from my account.
