While on Big Sur in the System Preferences -> Displays section there was the option to enable/disable HDR in a given display. After upgrading to Monterey the option disappeared and is not posible to enable HDR.
Configuration is: intel mac book pro -> usb c -> hdmi -> lg c1 screen.
This configuration was working without issues on Big Sur.

that article shows exactly what worked in Big Sur. but that option is missing in Monterey.
